Over the years we have participated in many outreach projects in Guatemala and here in our local community of Chimaltenango.  God has been so good and we love sharing his faithfulness with those around us!

Middle School Retreat

Plans fell through for an off-campus middle school camp this year. Everyone was a bit disappointed that it would only be at the school and not overnight but God had big plans and it was a fantastic camp.  This year’s theme was Abba Love and the speakers and worship times hit home for many of our students and we could see the Lord moving. A number of students prayed to receive Jesus and several have even asked to join Pastor Dave’s community bible studies! Praise the Lord!!!  We also want to thank our friends from Central Church in Memphis, TN for helping to fund the event and for planning all the games and activities.

Community Prayer Walk

In a beautiful display of God’s love the children went out in the community on a prayer walk to pray for and encourage some of our local families. They prayed for several families including one of our school’s student’s who was recently in a bad car accident and went to the home of one of our house parents who was so blessed by their visit she invited the whole group into her small home. We love seeing our children put their faith in to action!

Vacation Bible School

Our friends from Kirby Woods Baptist Church hosted their annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) for the elementary students at our school. Although June is not summer vacation time in Guatemala, school staff set aside time for this important activity.

The team packed each day with songs, skits, crafts, games and Bible lessons on Jesus as Provider, Healer and Savior, plus a special prayer time at the end. Many children invited us to pray with them about their lives and families and it was a beautiful way to end each day with a practical application of the love of Christ.

Community Men’s Outreach

Pastor Dave and our friends from Christ Baptist in NC hosted a men’s outreach here in our colonia.  A number of men turned out for a soccer game, pizza and gospel presentation.  The men had a great time and we love seeing the gospel go out in our community!

Cleaning Up

The children and staff headed out one Sunday to help clean up the trash in our community park and help sweep the streets for many local families. It was a great opportunity for the children to meet and talk to some of our local community. One elderly lady was so touched and came out to work alongside the children on her street.
